Impolite calls the two Washington State Senators "authoritarian" because they seek to expand the intrusion of government into private lives. Let me explain.
Suppose there is some service 10% of the people say they need. These two would support a government program to provide for that need. Suppose the program is enacted. Then 100% of the people end up paying for a program only 10% ever wanted.
The end result is one in ten people have what they want, and nine in ten have been compelled by force to take what they don't want. How can the whole people be called free?
