SB 5248, another proposed tax on plastic shopping bags. This proposal would impose a two-cent tax on each plastic bag used in retail sale.
The Democrat sponsors, Senators
Chase and
Kline, say they are motivated by environmental and landfill worries. But plastic bags are less than 2% of the waste stream going to landfills. Clearly, this is just another tax for money hungry politicians so they can spend our money with their cronies.
